After deliberating over your opening team, and who to captain, it is now time to sit back and see how your fantasy team performs. Following your fantasy players in action usually results in a roller-coaster ride of emotions, but there’s no need to keep it all bottled up. We invite fantasy managers to share their views on all the gameweek 1 matches live as the action unfolds.

Please use the message box below to chat with other fantasy managers whilst the games are in play. This is your chance to discuss starting line-ups; goals and assists; referee decisions; player performances etc.

Whether you want to share your joy or vent your frustration, ‘The Commentary Box’ is here for a bit of fun, and we hope it will make the gameweek 1 footy even more entertaining for you. Enjoy!

  1. The boys at the FPL have certainly got their finger out this year!

  2. Eddy and Kop! Evening gentlemen. The quicker I get this weekend behind me the better!
Quick question, worried with Ramires and transfers out already being high. Thinking of getting Ben Arfa in. Even though he has a tough fixture against Chelsea next, seems as tho his stock is rising so would be wise to get him in now. Will wait and see tmrw cause other possibilities could be a United player or Cazorla. Way you think, hit or stay until Fridy?

  3. 54 pts so far, pretty disappointed. Was hoping I wouldn’t be regretting my starting XI so soon! lol

  4. GC you should see my bench

  5. Any thoughts on getting Rodwell & Bertrand? Bertrand is a defender but plays in mid. At 4.5 looks good? Rodwell at 5mil is cheap and looked great today despite that one costly error.

    • No to both of them!!

      • ditto!

Rodwell is too defensive to use in FF and Bertrand won’t get much game time in my opinion.

        • True. Thanks. Still a newbie to this..

          • Just remember that in general defensive midfielders are a no-no, while they may be playing well for real, in FF doesn’t usually translate to pts.

          • Unless of course they’re also set piece takers — then there may be a shout, as with Lampard this week (eh Kop?).

          • Very true thanks. Just made me think that Bertrand could score some good points since his listed as a defender. But unlikely that he will get that much playing time. I guess I was thinking to get them as my subs or something. Thanks for the advice!

          • ememeh- personally I wouldn’t count Lampard as a defensive midfielder given his record.

          • ezeq – yes that’s actually a good way to think — those playing in more attacking positions when listed in more defensive positions can be really great to snap up! It’s just that on this occasion, he’s not likely to play. One solid piece of advice is that *even for subs* only choose those likely to play. Today will bear testament to that principle, given how Ramires didn’t, and still might not in the next game, play.

          • GC – yeah, certainly that’s not his standard position, though I heard he played there today, right? At least, that was suggested before the match. In any case, there will be instances of other defensive players who are set-piece takers and for that reason alone may merit picking.

          • ezeq- aye as ememeh says it’s good to have defensively listed players who score, Seamus Coleman is a great example, he was listed as a defender and was playing left mid for Everton, racking up a load of pts. Bertrand would be a decent pick if he was a regular, until then it’s just not worth it because he won’t be playing most of the time.

        • Alright thanks guys for the help!

  6. according to MOTD2, Aguero twitted that it is not serious, 50% chance of playing according to FPL.com, hope he plays GW2 – palm face for all those who have transferred him out already. gonna wait till Thurs/Fri before looking at my team again

    • 50% isn’t great odds like, if that’s how it remains it may still be worth transferring him out. I still have in like, will see how it develops.

      • I’ve been checking FISO, and even did some of the calculations myself to double check, and it’s unlikely that Aguero’s value will fall tonight.

Much of it depends on how the FPL-public take such news as ’50% chance of recovering’ and Aguero’s positive tweets. So long as the PR is positive, or is construed that way, the number of people selling him won’t cause his price to fall.

Currently, roughly 25,000 FPL managers have sold him. Before today, he was owned by 30% of managers, which is about 600,000 teams. Of those teams, if approx. 10% sell him (that’s 60,000 teams) then his price will fall by £0.1m. That means between now and whenever FPL decide to make the changes (about 2am, say), 35,000 FPL managers need to let him go. Given the lack of increase in recent hours, it shouldn’t be a problem tonight.

However, over the course of the week that could definitely change, according to how the FPL-public take the news being put out about Aguero, and also how much of a domino effect there is by those scared he will drop in value.

      • now 75% chance of playing

        • I’d take the FPL percentages with a pinch of salt — I don’t know if they’re privy to special information, or whether much of it is just guesswork anyway. It seems City probably don’t even know the extent of the lay-off yet…

  7. Are you happy now Eddy and no i,m not doing a VC over 90% are postumos and your going nowhere soon??????????

  8. GC, you a Game of Thrones fan?

  9. Right lads, good night and good luck! ;-)

  10. I started off with an alright GW with 54 points, but please can someone help me out with my team! Preferably Eddy, Kop or anyone that can help out.

    Federici

    Clichy,Cole A,Coloccini

    Pienaar,Hazard,Bale,Kagawa,Dyer,

    Torres,Pogrebnyak,Ba

    Krul,Barnett,Tierney

Who should start GW 2 and who to get instead of torres?
    I have 2.5 in bank

  11. I need serious help, poor outcome so far, though still have rooney and pienaar. hopefully they can perform and get me back in it.

    GK: Davis (Cerny)
Def: Kompany, shawncross, coloccini (barnett, clyne)
Mid: Oscar, ramires, yaya toure, pienaar
    attk: rooney, tevez, torres

I have to make alot of changes to my lineup. this is my first time playing fpl so i dunno if its worth losing points to make these changes. And so far i dunno who to keep, who has potential.

kompany – didnt perform, had 2 goals conceded , probably not worth the money
coloccini – injury 75% of playing, should i keep him?
    My defense has been terrible

Oscar : made the mistake of replacing hazard with him. however i think he will get some more gametime. Dunno if i should keep him either, or get hazard back in.

ramires: sick , 75% of playing. again, should i sit him out?

    how can i improve?

  12. JT, you have mail! :)
