The Suspension Report for gameweek 1 provides up to date information on players suspended for the current gameweek, and players who are close to receiving a suspension. With initial player selections being so important in fantasy football, we highly recommend fantasy managers cast their eye down the suspension lists before confirming their final team for gameweek 1.

Suspended Players

Well the time has almost come, we are just days away from from the start of the 2012-2013 season. Normally this report would not be needed until the season is well under way, but a certain Mr Barton has left us scratching our heads. Due to unknown possibilities with cup draw(s) it is difficult at this time to know exactly when Joey can start his season, but rest assured it will not be any time soon as he has a 12, yes twelve, match suspension to serve for his antics at the end of last season.

Another thing that needs to be cleared up is the situation with Ivanovic. It was thought Ivanovic would be banned for three matches, however, the FA changed their rules after an incident during an Amsterdam Tournament in 2006, when Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney were both sent off against Porto and ended up serving three-match bans. As the rule change covered all non-competitive pre-season fixtures, including the Community Shield, it means Ivanovic will be free to play from gameweek 1. How they class something that involves a trophy and medals as ‘non-competitive’ is beyond us, but that discussion is for another time and place.

The following players will be serving a suspension for the following gameweeks.

The Suspension Watchlist

The yellow card count is reset for all players at the start of the season.  Therefore all players are currently 5 yellow cards away from a one match suspension.

Going Forwards…

Where possible, we will try and produce the suspension report as early as possible each gameweek. However, as cup games can affect suspensions, if there are FA Cup or Carling Cup games scheduled for midweek, then accurate suspension information cannot be given until these matches have taken place. On these affected gameweeks we will release the suspension report shortly after the final cup game has concluded.

The Value of ‘The Suspension Report’

Up to date suspension information is a hugely valuable tool for fantasy managers, and we strongly encourage everyone to review this section on a weekly basis. It may very well save you from making a horrendous transfer or team selection mistake!

If you want a concise overview of how the suspension system works in the Premier League, then please read our Guide to Suspensions in Fantasy Football which will help make sense of what is undoubtedly a confusing system.

  1. Lampard, Bale, ???, Pineaar, Noble. 9.0mil for last mid spot have no idea??

  2. Kagawa Or Ramires? Those 2 have been playing swapsie all week.

    Federici (Krul)
    Williams, Pearce, Hangeland (BAE, Cuellar)
    Kagawa, Siggurdson, Michu, (Noble)
    Torres (C), Aguero, Pog (VC)

  3. A part of doing well is picking out the players who are undervalued and who’s price will rise, raising your teams value and ultimately your spending power.

Who do people think is undervalued this year?

    For me a couple I see potential undervaluation in are;

    Clark AV – 4.5
    Torres- Ch – 10
    Ireland- Av – 5.5
    Pog- Reading -5.0
    Guthrie – Reading -4.5
    Allen – Liverpool -5.5
    Cuellar- Sunderland -4.5

    • GC – I dont think that Allen is undervalued at all!

      • i think that guthrie is a defensive player, so i would stay away from him.

but how about adding defoe ( as spurs only striker)

      • KW

Totally disagree with you on this one. Allen is a sure starter, Liverpool will be a lot tighter under Rogers, Allen has beeter players around him, he scored well in a Swansea team, what suggests he will not in a Liverpool Team on a season long basis?

        • S&S – He’s a sure starter, but he’ll sit in front of the defence alongside Lucas.

          • KW

how many points did he get last year playing for a true midtable team? Liverpool had a poor season, they will do better this year

          • S&S – He picked up 117 points last season. Dont get me wrong, I think he’s a good player and is certainly a good addition to our team but from an ff point of view I dont see him scoring a huge amount of points.

            I hope I’m wrong…

          • KW

Opinions mate, I wiolud suggest if he pays all the time and Liverpoll pick up on last years form he will score 140 – 150 points, please advise on last years scores who at 5.5 mill bettered that, numbers will do, I am doing this without access to the FPL site

          • S&S – The only 5.5m midfielder who scored more than Allen last season was Dyer (122 points).

As you’ve said, it’s all about opinions, I’ll be watching Liverpool closely for the first 5-6 weeks and I’ll re-evaluate them then.

            As I said, hopefully you’re right :)

  4. What two 4.5 million keepers shall I rotate?

Currently got Green and Begovic but im not sure!

  5. Vorm / Federici

    Hangeland / Shawcross / Williams / (MacCartney) / (R. Taylor)

    Yaya / Bale / Allen / Ramires / (Noble)

    Torres / Aguero / Tevez

What do you lot think? got £0 in the bank, i had kept £2m for Rooney/Torres switch but i’m probably gonna stick with Torres, if he’s not performing i can swap him for Cisse and save 0.5m. or if need be stick graham in 1 week for Tevez, then get Rooney in next week for Torres.

obviously Tevez seems a rotation risk but for GW1 i think he’s safe enough.

i might also look to swap Ramires at some point, i know Michu seems to have a bit of attention, and also when he’s fit i like Cabaye.

so what do you think? and which keeper would you start.

  7. Anyone know much about Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa) £5.0 m, the Dutch man is a cheap alternative for gameweek one. Hopefully Villa will be tight at the back now that Lamberts there. Vlaar will probably fill the gap left by collins and with dunne injured he will start imo

  8. RMT please

    Ramires, Yaya, Gerrard, Michu, Noble

  9. Would love some opinions on my team. Would love Rooney up front with Torres and Pog, but not sure how to alter it to allow it!

    Vorm (Federici)

Ekotto, Pearce, Cuellar, Williams, Taylor R

    Bale, Arteta, Toure, Nani, Allen

    Tevez, Torres, Pog

    • Ekotto for a WHAM defender?

      Nanai for Osman?

      • Yeah that’s why I had Ekotto…as a potential standout defender.

        New lineup

        Vorm (Federici)
Ekotto, Taylor R, Williams (Pearce, Cuellar)
Bale, Michu (?), Toure, Noble (Pienarr)
